Pasaraya Fresco

Jasin Shopping Centre was founded in 1984 by three brothers. The business was indeed a transition from a traditional shop which carried stationery and textiles items for more than 20 years in Jasin town, to a mini market that sold supermarket and household items. With 9 years of hard work and remarkable efforts contributed, the business grew from a storey shop houses with retail floor area of 3,500 sq feet and 15 employees in 1984 to a three storey building with retail floor area of 15,000 sq and 50 employees in 1993. In order to house more products and provide better services to the customers, JSC further expanded its business in 1998 by increasing the retail floor area to 25,000 sq feet. In year 2001, JSC changed its name to “FRESCO” and started to computerize its operation and manage their inventory with self-developed IT application. It has also successfully launched the “Fresco Shopping Card” member loyalty program to reward the regular customers. The number of “Fresco Shopping Card” member has reached 8,000 in year 2004 and the sales contributed by the member has steadily increased from a mere 20% to more than 50% of the total sales in today.
In year 2005, the company begins its expansion program by setting up another “Fresco” supermarket in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. The supermarket measures a retail floor area of 15,000sq feet and achieved an annual turnover of RM 10 million. In addition, Fresco has plans to further expand its retail business and has since targeted a few locations with great potential to open branches.
